SUPPER LAB
Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 8, 2026
About this policy
Supper Lab is an offline-first kitchen chemistry and food-label learning app for people aged 16 and over. This policy explains how information is handled in the app and on these policy and support pages. Supper Lab is the operating name used for this release.
Information you choose to save
Your experiment answers, progress, drafts, reflections, confirmed ingredient text, observation times, sound markers, photos and recordings are saved locally on your device. The app does not require an account. We do not run an account database, upload your experiment files to our servers, sell personal information, or use advertising or third-party behavioral analytics SDKs.
Camera and photo access
The camera is requested when you choose to photograph an ingredient label. You can decline and use manual text or an explicitly labeled sample instead. Photo import uses the system photo picker, which gives the app access only to items you select. Photos may contain private information; crop or cover unrelated details before confirming them. The app does not request your precise location or add GPS information to experiment records.
Text recognition
Ingredient text recognition uses Apple Vision on your device. Recognized words may be incomplete or incorrect. You must check and confirm the text before relying on it. A small English allergen dictionary can highlight possible words, but cannot establish that food is allergen-free. Images and recognized text are not sent to an external AI service by Supper Lab.
Microphone and recordings
Microphone access is requested only when you choose to record bubbling or stirring. Recordings are stored as local audio files and can be played back or deleted. Sound observations and amplitude or timing markers describe the recording; they do not identify microbes, precise pH, readiness, or food safety. You can use written observations without microphone access. This release does not send recordings for cloud speech recognition.
Permissions and your choices
You can deny camera or microphone access and continue with the available manual alternatives. You can later change access in iOS Settings. Removing permission does not automatically delete files you previously saved; use the app’s deletion controls to remove those records.
Storage, retention, and device backups
Experiment records remain on your device until you delete them, erase the app’s data, or uninstall the app. Deleting a record also removes its associated attachments from the app’s storage. Delete my data clears local learning progress and files. iOS device backups may include app data according to your Apple settings. Backup copies, files already exported, and copies shared with others are outside the app’s deletion controls. We do not maintain remote copies of your experiment records, so a server-side retention period for those records does not apply.
Export and sharing
Export happens only when you request it. An export may include private notes, photos, and sounds. Review the contents and destination before using the iOS share sheet. The service or person you select receives the exported data under its own terms. Supper Lab does not automatically publish your work.
Public policy and support pages
Opening a hosted policy or support page makes a network request to Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process the IP address, request time, browser or device information, and technical logs needed to deliver, secure, and diagnose the website. These static pages do not include advertising, analytics scripts, contact-form collection, or tracking cookies set by Supper Lab. Cloudflare’s handling and retention of infrastructure logs follow its own policies; see https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/. We have not verified a particular infrastructure log-retention period. Reading bundled offline copies avoids that page request.
Support correspondence
If you voluntarily contact support through a working address supplied by the publisher, your email address and the information you send will be used to respond. Do not send sensitive ingredient photos, voice recordings, medical information, or passwords unless necessary. The address shown in the initial release materials is a publishing placeholder and has not been verified as a monitored support channel.
Security and access
We use the iOS app container and platform storage protections for local data. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure. Protect your device with a passcode and keep it updated. Because we do not hold your local records, we cannot restore records you delete or access them on your behalf.
Your rights
You can inspect, correct, export, and delete your saved information using the app. Depending on your location, you may have additional privacy rights and the right to complain to your local data-protection authority. For data held by Apple, Cloudflare, or a sharing destination, contact that provider. We do not sell or share your data for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Age, changes, and contact
The app is intended for users aged 16 or older and is not directed to children under 16. Adults should supervise kitchen activities involving younger co-learners. We may update this policy when the app changes; the date below identifies the current text. Operating name: Supper Lab. Publishing contact placeholder: supperlab@support.com (not verified as a monitored address). The publisher must replace the placeholder before relying on email support.
